Our Story

Nissi’s is an award-winning music, entertainment, and event center that is unlike anything else in the area. From our great live entertainment to our mouthwatering menu, you will find yourself endlessly impressed with our concert venue and event space.  Nissi’s is one of Colorado’s premier music venues featuring national and regional entertainment.  Nissi’s received numerous “Best of” awards from the Boulder Weekly, Yellow Scene Magazine, and the Daily Camera newspaper.  The business has a 4.6 average on Google and Facebook reviews.  Nissi’s was also the proud host of Boulder County Democratic 2016 and 2018 election watch parties, the Boulder County office of the Aging’s Lavender Gala, Meals On Wheels Benefit, and numerous weddings, birthday parties, corporate functions, fundraisers, and benefits.

Nissi’s owner and former New Yorker, Marc Gitlin has had an extensive, 35-year history in the entertainment and hospitality industries. After graduating college, Marc became the General Manager of Caroline’s Comedy Club in New York City. He worked with and booked many of today’s most successful comedians, such as Jon Stewart, Marc Maron, Denis Leary, Chris Rock, Dennis Miller, David Spade, Louie CK and Ray Romano. He also appeared as an actor on A & E’s Carolines Comedy which ran from 1989 – 1991.

At the age of 27, he opened his first club, Nowhere Bar, just outside of New York City. This live music venue featured the ‘grunge’ influenced, early 90s sound and some of your favorite 80s hair metal bands. Artists ranging from Warrant to a young Gavin DeGraw, used to perform with his older brothers, played the Nowhere Bar.

In 1995, Marc moved to Colorado and opened Fanatics Sports Cafe in Boulder. It was within a mile of the University of Colorado and was a hangout for the likes of former Bronco head coach, Mike Shanahan and former C.U. star quarterback, Koy Detmer.

After he sold the café in 1999, he became the Managing Director of Trios Grille and Wine Bars in Boulder and Denver. Trios was an award-winning nightlife mecca specializing in fine dining, live jazz, with an extensive wine selection. Trios was the venue of choice for local and national Jazz acts such as Nelson Rangell, Dotsero and Ron Miles.

After a few years of exploring other business opportunities, Marc returned to his passion and took over Nissis in 2009. Marc’s goal is to provide a great night of fun, food, drinks, and dancing for adults in an upscale, safe, fun, and comfortable environment.  Now, he is excited for you to visit the all new Nissi’s @ Lafayette Crossings.
