Nelson Rangell

Genre:  Contemporary Jazz
Doors:  6:30pm
Show:   7:30pm

Tickets on sale 6/28/18 9:00am

Jazziz magazine writes that Nelson Rangell is “an artist of depth, a master of song, and an improviser non pareil.” The Times of London notes “his extraordinary facility on a range of instruments” and Rangell’s “considerable crowd pleasing power”. Saxophone Journal writes “He commands the alto saxophone with such authority there can be no denying that Rangell is a true artist,” and Flute Talk Magazine states “Nelson Rangell creates the impression that anything is possible when he improvises.” Such praise is a confirmation of what contemporary jazz fans have known since the Denver based saxophonist emerged in the late 80s: that Rangell is one of the most exciting and diverse performers in the genre, equally adept at soprano, alto, and tenor saxophone, as well as being a genuine virtuoso on flute and piccolo.

Jackson Cloud Band

Genre: Rock
Doors: 6:30pm
Show: 7:30pm

Free Admission

Jackson Cloud Band is a band with a plethora of sounds that will take you into an Odyssey of places through music. Jackson Cloud is a young, naturally talented musician from Longmont Colorado. His performance of The Beatles “Hard Day’s Night” in his 3rd grade talent show was a clue that he might have a future in music, and so far that is the case. His instrument of choice is the electric guitar however he has found that his voice is an extension of the vibrating strings, which now work as one instrument. Old Blues and Rock & Roll came out very naturally at first, but as he started to write his own material, the sounds were much more. Not limiting himself to a technique or genre of music he is able to create a feeling, mood or moment.

Meniskus

Genre: Rock Nouveau
Doors: 6:30pm
Show: 7:30pm

$15 Reserved Seating
$12 General admission at the door

Meniskus has shared a bill with an amazingly wide array of artists including Tom Petty, Dave Matthews, Rodrigo y Gabriela, The Roots and The Disco Biscuits – and their devoted following (and music) are just as diverse.
The dynamic of the band starts with a violin and a nylon-stringed guitar – both enhanced by a barrage of effects – and gets driven by an arsenal of percussion.
The music is informed by the extensive classical training of Cris Ryt and Eric Ostberg, as well as the unique sound Bardusco brings from his experience as a self-taught guitarist growing up in Venezuela. The three players weave all their diverse flavors into a powerful sound. The influences of classic rockers and jam bands, as well as the rhythms of Latin grooves and European house music have found new life in the music of Meniskus.

Bourbon & Blues with Deborah
Stafford & the State of Affairs

Genre: Blues
Doors: 6:30pm
Show: 7:30pm

Free Admission

Deborah Stafford is a talented and versatile singer. She can wail on the blues just as easily as singing a beautiful 40’s Big Band ballad. She began hanging around at Blues Jams and soon a new band called the The Immortal Blues Ambassadors asked her to be their singer. The more she sang Blues the more she loved it. When the BA’s broke up, she created Stone Soup, a funky blues and soul band that played together for 5 years. But still she dreamed of competing in Memphis and decided this year to create the IBC band of her dreams. Thus was born, Deborah Stafford & The State of Affairs, the product of much love and heartache over many years, as a good blues band should be.
