David L Smith Jr. is an American Jazz trombonist, educator and composer born in boynton beach, Florida. As a band leader, Smith leads the, “Dave Smith Trio,” in the Boulder/Denver area. He performs regularly as the house band at various jazz venues. Mr. Smith spends and devotes his time to performing and educating in efforts to help preserve this wonderful art form, “Jazz” for a large audiences ranging from elementary to college level students.

The son of a Filipino mother and an African-American father, Jack was born in the Philippines. He grew up in the Haight-Ashbury district of San Francisco. His mother bought him an acoustic guitar at the age of twelve because she wanted to keep him busy. The family moved to Denver, Colorado, where he learned to play music by ear, playing music by everyone from Hendrix to Dylan, unaware that he was learning the foundation of American music – the blues.

Randall is a strong vocalist and uses a combined rhythm/lead guitar style, which incorporates finger picking and plectrum. He performs as a solo artist as well as with his 4-piece band.
